Toothache Plant

Toothache Plant or Eyeball Plant is an annual, erect plant which is somewhat hairy in nature. It belongs to the plant family Compositae. The leaves are arranged opposite each other and are 2.5 - 5 c.m. long and are seen on the long 10 cm. peduncles or stalks.

MEDICINAL USE:

* Toothache, throat problems, and paralysis of the tongue.
* Rash.
* Dysentery.
* Laxative.

* Rheumatism, scabies and psoriasis.

HOW TO USE:

* The pungent flower- heads and leaves are chewed to take care of toothache, throat problems and paralysis of the tongue.
* To get rid of the itching owing to the rash, the leaves of the plant are rubbed over the affected parts.
* The plant is washed properly and boiled. After it cools down, both the water and the plant material are consumed for getting rid of dysentery.
* The decoction of the root is used as a laxative.
* The decoction of the leaves is used as a bath in rheumatism, or as a lotion for scabies and psoriasis.

Normal Dosage For:

Adults: 4 or 5 cups a day.
Aged 6 to 9 years: 2 cups a day
Aged 2 to 5 years: 1 cup a day
1 to 2 years: 1/2 cup a day
Below 1 year: 1/4 or less cup a day

1 tbsp = 5 grams (green herb)
1 dessertspoon = 2 grams (dry herb)
1 teaspoon = 25 drops
1 cup = 16 tbsp


1 litre = 7 or 8 cups
