The common floating Water Hyacinth is an aquatic herb that belongs to the plant family Pontederiaceae. The shiny leaves form rosettes and are spoon shaped. The plant, generally considered to be a nuisance, is able to float owing to its bulbous petiole that is abundant in aerenchymatous tissue which has ability of trpping air. The plant has numerous fibrous roots and showy blue funnel-shaped flowers. The fruit, which is capsular, has many seeds.

MEDICINAL USE:
*Blood disorders.
*Emaciation and weakness.
*Treatment of goitre.

HOW TO USE:
*After cleaning the plant thoroughly, the decoction of the whole plant is used to take care of blood
  disorders, emaciation, and weakness.
*The same decoction is used to treat goitre. However, along with this decoction, a poultice is
  prepared from the crushed plant and applied onto the enlarged part of the neck.

As recommended above.

Normal Dosage For:

Adults: 4 or 5 cups a day.
Aged 6 to 9 years: 2 cups a day
Aged 2 to 5 years: 1 cup a day
1 to 2 years: 1/2 cup a day
Below 1 year: 1/4 or less cup a day

A Useful Table for Quick Measurements:
1 tbsp = 5 grams (green herb)
1 dessertspoon = 2 grams (dry herb)
1 teaspoon = 25 drops
1 cup = 16 tbsp


1 litre = 7 or 8 cups
