Sweet Pepper or Capsicum is an erect, branched, upright, smooth shrub that belongs to the plant family Solanaceae. Sweet pepper which is now available in bright colours of red, yellow, violet, green etc., is mostly used in salads for taste and decoration. It is neither caustic nor hot. The leaves are alternate and tapering at both ends. The flowers are solitary, bell-shaped, and yellowish or white in colour. The fruit is hollow, containing numerous small, flat seeds. It varies in size, depending on the variety. Being a good stimulant, it is cultivated as a vegetable in gardens.
MEDICINAL USE:
*Nutritive.
*Skin purifier.
*Controls gas in stomach and intestine.
*Stomachache.
*Sore throat, scarlet fever, indigestion, yellow fever, diarrhoea, piles and hypertension or high blood
pressure.
*Lumbago or pain in the lower back, neuralgia or acute pain of a sensory nerve, and rheumatism.
HOW TO USE:
*The consumption of the uncooked fruits has good nutritive value.
*The juice of the fruit, together with carrot juice, is used as a skin purifier. For a good effect, take 2
or 3 cups a day..
|*For gases in digestive tract, take 1/2 litre of capsicum juice, mixed with spinach juice.
*The above mentioned juice also helps in stomachaches. For this, take in doses of 1 cupful every 2
hours.
*The fruit is also used for sore throat, scarlet fever, indigestion, yellow fever, diarrhoea, piles and
hypertension or high blood pressure.
*The consumption of capsicum helps relieve lumbago or pain in the lower back, neuralgia or acute
pain of a sensory nerve, and rheumatism.
